Coffee has a very important role in the Italian culture: it is the first drink one has in the morning, it is the perfect excuse when you want to escape the office for a short break and the obligatory end of a long dinner. However, it seems that in the past the attention for the quality of coffee has disappeared. There are 150.000 bars in Italy, but I know that in some of these places coffee is not more that a hot drink that contains caffeine and thus keeps you awake. The flavour is not worth talking about. But since a few years, at least in Milan, a new trend has started bringing back the attention to the flavor of coffee.

I believe that Orsonero has been one of the first places to offer speciality coffee. The small bar in the beautiful Via Morgagni, just two steps from the famous Corso Buenos Aires, has opened in 2016. In just 30sqm they prepare you a coffee the way you prefer it. For the different flavors of coffee, they use a range of blends that fits best by the preparation method: from the classical espresso made with a beautiful La Marzocco machine to filtered coffee or  a cold brew. Every client can choose its favourite type of beans and maybe even try some new flavors.

The size of Orsonero is limited but the audience isn’t. At the bar and at one of the tables one can meet inhabitants of the beautiful Via Morgagni, Americans and Canadians that are attracted by the Scandinavian atmosfere to Asians that have read about the bar all the way to the Milanese that doesn’t mind to travel through the city to enjoy a good quality coffee.
